Keep Moving at Your Own Pace

A little encouragement for your journey: stop comparing your progress to someone else’s, trust God’s timing, and keep moving forward even when the hill is steep.

Have you ever looked at someone else’s life and felt like you’re falling behind?

Maybe someone else seems to be reaching their goals faster, moving forward in life, or getting to places you’ve been praying to reach. And somewhere along the way, you begin to question your own progress.

If you’ve ever felt that way, I want to encourage you with a little story.

A Lesson on a Rainy Day

One day, I was sitting in my car waiting for my husband to come out of work. He had texted me to let me know it would be a while, so I told him, “No worries, I can wait.”

It was pouring down rain, and I had my Bible in the car. So, while I waited, I began reading the Word.

As I was reading, I noticed a man riding his bicycle up the steep hill where I was parked. The rain was coming down heavily, but he kept pedaling at a steady pace.

Cars were passing him, making their way up the hill much faster than he was. Compared to them, his progress seemed slow.

But something about that moment caught my attention.

The biker wasn’t trying to keep up with the cars. He wasn’t speeding up to match their pace. He simply kept his eyes on where he was going and continued moving forward.

He was climbing a steep hill in the pouring rain, yet he kept going.

And in that moment, the Holy Spirit placed something on my heart.

Stop Comparing Your Journey to Someone Else’s

How often do we look at someone else’s life and use their progress to measure our own?

We see someone getting married, starting a business, buying a home, reaching a goal, or walking into a new season of life. Meanwhile, we may feel like we’re still climbing the hill.

We begin to wonder why it’s taking us so long. We question whether we’re doing enough. Sometimes, we even feel as though we’re falling behind.

But what if we’re making the mistake of comparing two completely different journeys?

That biker couldn’t travel up the hill at the same speed as the cars. He had a different way of traveling, different limitations, and a different pace.

Yet he was still moving forward.

Just because someone else is moving faster doesn’t mean you’re not making progress.

Your journey doesn’t have to look like someone else’s. Your timing doesn’t have to match theirs. And you don’t have to rush through your process simply because someone else appears to be further ahead.

God has a plan for your life, and you can trust Him even when your progress doesn’t look the way you expected.

Keep Going, Even When the Journey Gets Difficult

Let’s not forget that it was raining.

The biker wasn’t traveling on a smooth, sunny day. He was making his way up a steep hill while the rain poured down around him.

I imagine there may have been moments when stopping would have seemed easier.

And isn’t that how life can feel sometimes?

You can be doing your best to move forward, trusting God, praying, working, and staying faithful, yet still find yourself facing one storm after another.

The hill feels steep. The conditions aren’t ideal. And the journey seems to be taking longer than you thought it would.

But don’t let the difficulty of the journey convince you to give up on reaching your destination.

You may have to move slowly. You may need to take a moment to catch your breath. You may even need to adjust your approach.

But keep your eyes on what’s ahead. Keep looking to God for direction, strength, and wisdom.

The goal isn’t to keep up with everybody else. The goal is to remain faithful to the journey God has placed before you.

A Little Luv Reminder 💜

Today, I want to encourage you to stop measuring your life against someone else’s timeline.

Don’t become so distracted by how fast someone else is moving that you lose sight of where God is leading you.

Keep showing up. Keep doing what you can with what you have. Keep trusting God through the process.

And when the storm comes, remember that a difficult journey doesn’t mean you’re going in the wrong direction.

Some hills take more effort to climb. Some seasons require more patience. And some destinations take longer to reach than we anticipated.

But don’t allow comparison to steal your focus or discouragement to stop your progress.

You don’t have to move at someone else’s pace. You just have to keep moving forward in the direction God is leading you.

Because that biker taught me something I’ll carry with me: You can be moving slower than everyone around you and still be making your way toward your destination.

So, take a deep breath. Release the pressure to keep up. Trust God’s timing, stay consistent, and keep going.

Even if it’s raining. Even if the hill is steep. Even if it takes a little longer than you planned.

Keep moving forward. Your journey is still worth taking.

“Let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” — Hebrews 12:1 (KJV)
